Installing An Irrigation System For Home Lawn Or Garden

0

An irrigation system is a system that supplies water to plants, usually for agricultural or landscaping purposes. To enjoy the system, you need to procure one from reputable and reliable industrial pump manufacturers.

The most basic of irrigation systems involves using gravity-fed water from natural sources such as rivers or reservoirs, but controlling it with some simple mechanisms can be challenging and expensive.

Irrigation System Connection

  • An irrigation system is also necessary for fields where the entire area needs watering at the same time. An irrigation system is usually connected to the water source by a pipeline, made from plastics or any material that can resist corrosion and damage by exposure to sunlight, rainwater, hail, sleet, snow, or other natural elements.
  • The power source for an irrigation system can also be gravity-fed so as not to need electricity. It can be possible if the water source is higher than the land to be irrigated.

Different Types of Irrigation Systems

When it comes to irrigation systems, there are three different types:  on-demand, trickle, and drip. Each has another function depending on what kind of use they have been designed for.

  1. On-demand

It is the most common type in domestic use because it does not need a power source, a reservoir, or a pump.

  1. Trickle

It is the oldest type, and it has to be connected to a power source such as an electric or solar-powered pump, but it can also function with gravity because an elevated water tank feeds water through the system.  However, this type is rare in domestic use because of the cost of powering it, aside from needing a fair chunk of space to accommodate its components.

  1. Drip

It is also an old type, and it has also been used for agricultural purposes since it does not require much power source to run the system. In domestic use, however, water tends to be wasted by dripping or pooling at various points in the system.

How to Connect an Irrigation System to a Faucet

To install an irrigation system, read and follow these steps:

  • A garden hose is connected to the water source with a simple connector or adapter;  the opposite end of the hose needs to be attached to the drip irrigation system with another simple device.
  • Watering needs to be done regularly for optimum plant development and health. It is usually placed near the faucet so as not to interfere with the gardening process. If necessary, a timer can be added to the system so that the watering will only last for a particular time.
  • A faucet is explicitly used for irrigation systems.  The hose is attached to the faucet, which is turned on to water plants or lawns.

The bottom line is, irrigation systems are an investment. This system not only keeps your plants healthy, but it saves you money in the long run by preventing plant damage due to dry weather or lack of nutrients because of a lack of water intake.
